Get fit with the Power Plate
Madonna, Claudia Schiffer and Donatella Versace swear by it. CellC offers one with one of their contract deals. It seems everyone is jumping on the “Power plate” bandwagon.
This machine, sometimes dubbed the “miracle machine” offers a low-impact workout, cramming the equivalent of an hour at the gym into a 15-minute session. While the machine vibrates, you hold different poses for up to a minute each. This is especially good at toning your inner core muscles, and reportedly makes your muscles contract and relax up to 50 times per second. Added health benefits include enhanced metabolism, increased bone density, reduced stress hormone levels (particularly, cortisol, which has been shown to make you fat!), and increased growth hormone levels. Be warned though, the machine is expensive (up to R8000, from Verimark), big (you can’t fold it away), and doesn’t offer you any cardiovascular workout, so you won’t see any stamina increases.
